Mobile Social Media - Video Application for Entertainment and Learning

Mobile Social Media on kaksivuotinen projekti, jossa tutkitaan
kännykkävideoiden käyttöä sosiaalisissa yhteisöissä. Projekti tuottaa
tietoa sosiaalisen median mobiilipalvelukehittäjille siitä, miten
käyttäjät kokevat palvelut, ja millaisia palveluja käyttäjät odottavat.
Teknologiatasolla testataan useita erilaisia teknologiaratkaisuja ja
palvelukonsepteja. Mielenkiintoista on myös kansainvälinen yhteistyö
Stanfordin yliopiston H-Star -instituutin kanssa. Se mahdollistaa
osaamisen ja tutkimustulosten vaihdon USA:n ja Suomen välillä ja
hyödyttää mukana olevia yrityksiä suunnittelemaan ja kehittämään
tuotteitaan myös USA:n markkinoille.

CAT - network in Pori

The network practices multidisciplinary research and educates researchers. The research projects connect three different research traditions and methodologies as well three different fields of core competences:

- Art studies, studies of visual culture and media and media management
- Studies of digital culture and history
- Studies of information technology, multimedia and engineering

The main emphasis is to create new innovative knowledge about new technologies that could be applied into Finnish business and cultural life.

The network emphasis four points in their multidisciplinary research projects

1.The economical survey and improvement of interactive information technology applications through pilot projects.
2. The research of game design and production from the point of view of experience, entertainment and education
3. Understanding the importance of visual culture and designing usable and accessible applications of new technology.
4. The survey of usage of information and knowledge technology in the net and virtual environment (hobby, education and work communities)

Besides the research projects network organizes multidisciplinary MA-studies in the University Consortium of Pori.
